Monterey, California- Sierra Instruments’ new capabilities video demonstrates how Sierra’s SmartTrak 100 mass flow meters and mass controllers are specifically engineered to provide maximum application flexibility and to optimize research.
SmartTrak 100 MFCs are optimized for nearly any application requirement: multi-gas capability, ultra-low flows (0 to 0.1 sccm), high flows (to 1000 slpm), corrosive gases, low pressure drop (4.5 psid), and high pressure (up to 5000 psig). And all SmartTrak meters feature a small footprint, NEMA 6 and IP67 ratings, and easy systems integration with free user software, CE approval, and a variety of communications protocols like Modbus, Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus.
With the remote or face-mounted pilot module display/interface, view and change every aspect of SmartTrak 100 at any time with the push of a button. A true multi-gas digital MFC, end users can simply choose a gas from the menu and it’s ready to go, without losing any accuracy. End users can also adjust engineering units, flow range, and set zero, span and full scale independently for each gas, a key feature for research facilities that have multiple types of research applications with differing flow measurement and control needs.
For easy integration, the Compod allows end users to set up simple process control systems without the need for PLC’s or computers. In addition, end users can add functionality to control a positive shutoff valve, add a pulse output, and read and react to a pressure transmitter. The Compod also allows easy datalogging and diagnostics, the ability to send and receive data, and verify end user value faults or system upsets.
“We are excited to highlight the application flexibility of our SmartTrak line of mass flow controllers, which have provided creative engineering solutions for some of the most interesting scientific experiments. The winning combination of engineering expertise, application flexibility, and precision measurement and control position the SmartTrak mass flow controller as the perfect MFC solution for any research project,” Scott Rouse, Vice President of Product Management.
Direct mass flow with thermal technology offers an accuracy of +/-1% of full scale, repeatability of +/-0.2% of full scale. Thermal mass flow technology is an industry standard for mass flow control of gases because it measures flow directly, at the molecular level. Unaffected by upstream gas temperature and pressure fluctuations, gas mass flow control is direct and stable.
SmartTrak’s NIST traceable accuracy is backed by ten-point primary standard calibration over the entire flow range. All calibration assets including closed-loop calibration, and piston and bell provers are ISO 9001 certified and ISA 17025 compliant. In addition, end users who prefer to calibrate their flow meters and controllers in-house are provided all necessary software and training, and even the flow calibration standards required.
Researchers needing application flexibility and accuracy for their experiments can rely on Sierra. By utilizing nearly 40 years of flow meter design experience, Sierra can modify any existing product to meet their needs. Sierra customizes, often free of charge.
