Sierra Improves Its InnovaSonic Products

MONTEREY, CA – March 28, 2008 – Sierra Instruments continues its strong tradition of innovation with the release of its improved Innova-Sonic ® Ultrasonic Flowmeter product line. Sierra ’s Innova-Sonic ® flow meters are universal transit-time instruments incorporating the latest advances in digital signal processing. The Innova-Sonic™ Portable features an industry-unique Bluetooth® wireless PDA interface for a truly flexible and convenient flow measurement tool. Innova-Sonic® is also available with fixed display readout in your choice of either clamp-on or insertion transducers.

While principally designed for clean liquid applications, Innova-Sonic® is tolerant of liquids with small amounts of air bubbles or suspended solids common in most industrial environments. All Innova-Sonic® flow meters offer low power consumption, high reliability and outstanding applicability at an economical cost. An easy to read display and clear, user-friendly menu selections make using the instrument simple and convenient. The instrument can be configured via keypad without any additional programming devices and is packaged in a die cast NEMA 4X (IP65) housing.

Innova-Sonic ® features a self-contained 4-20 mA current loop signal output for instantaneous flow, as well as two independent temperature inputs for thermal energy monitoring. The instrument also features a 7 digit alpha-numeric display, parallel operation of positive, negative and net flow totalizers (with user-selectable scale factors) and configurable pulse and frequency outputs (transmitted via relay and open collector) for totalized flow.
Other key features found on all versions of the Innova-Sonic® product line are an accuracy better than +/-0.5%; a wide operating temperature range -40F to +212F (-40C to 100C); one meter for a wide range of pipe sizes 1 to 200” (25mm to 5000mm); detection of volumetric flow rate of most liquids; daily, monthly, and yearly totalized flow; and low installation effort and costs.

Additional improvements include data logging capability via a removable SD card and a new user interface for energy monitoring applications.
